Oprah Winfrey described the graphic clutches by Filipino brand Beatriz as the “perfect complement to a little black dress”. The striking, thread-wrapped bags came to the media mogul’s attention
when the creative director for her influential women’s magazine, O, discovered them last August at the NY Now trade show.
The clutches ended up in the December issue as one of Oprah’s favorite things. That wasn’t the last of the laurels for Carissa Cruz-Evangelista, founder of Beatriz. In September, she attended the Maison et Objet trade fair in Paris, where a buyer from the
New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) spotted the clutches, and asked Carissa to develop an exclusive design for the museum’s Spring 2017 collection. The Cheska clutch is now at the MoMA Store (store.moma.org).
